Allergens: Contains Dairy (cheese), Gluten (bread).

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 3–4 slices lunch meat
  • 1 slice cheese

Optional Extras

  • Mustard or mayonnaise
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Butter the outside and grill it in a skillet

Equipment

  • None required (skillet if grilling)

Instructions

  1. Lay out the bread. Add mustard, mayonnaise, or whatever spread you have.
  2. Layer the lunch meat and cheese.
  3. Add lettuce, tomato, or any other extras.
  4. Close the sandwich. Cut in half if you like.

Notes

  • Grilled version: Butter the outside of both bread slices and cook in a skillet over medium heat, 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and the cheese melts. Basically a grilled cheese with meat.
  • In a tortilla: Wrap it up instead of using bread for a quick roll-up.
  • Pack it. Sandwiches are the ultimate portable meal.
  • Any lunch meat works. Turkey, ham, roast beef, bologna — whatever you have.
  • No cheese? Still a perfectly good sandwich.
