Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal

A warm, filling breakfast that comes together in under 10 minutes. The peanut butter adds protein and the banana gives it natural sweetness.

Allergens: Contains Peanuts/Tree Nuts, Dairy (if using milk), Gluten (if using wheat-based cereal).

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
  • ½ cup cereal (plain oat-based cereal like Cheerios, or bran flakes)
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter

Optional Extras

  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Drizzle of honey

Equipment

  • Small pot or microwave-safe bowl
  • Stirring spoon

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk into a small pot and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the cereal. Stir and cook for 2–3 minutes until the cereal softens and the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove from heat. Stir in the peanut butter until melted and mixed through.
  4. Top with sliced banana. Add cinnamon or honey if you have them.

Notes

  • Why cereal? Plain cereals like Cheerios or bran flakes break down into a porridge-like texture when cooked in milk. It works surprisingly well.
  • No banana? Canned peaches or pears (drained and chopped) make a great substitute.
  • Make it more filling: Add a second tablespoon of peanut butter.
  • Peanut allergy? Skip the peanut butter and add an extra half banana and a tablespoon of butter for richness instead.
  • Dairy-free? Use any non-dairy milk alternative. The recipe works the same.
