Trail Mix Snack Bags
Crumble up granola bars and mix with whatever nuts, cereal, or dried fruit you have. Portion into bags for grab-and-go snacks all week.
Allergens: Check granola bar and cereal labels — many contain nuts, dairy, or soy.
Ingredients
- 4 granola bars, crumbled into pieces
- 1 cup cereal (Chex, Cheerios, or any plain cereal)
- ¼ cup peanut butter (optional — see notes for nut-free)
Optional Extras
- Raisins or other dried fruit
- Any nuts you have
- Chocolate chips
- Pretzels
- A drizzle of honey to bind it
Equipment
- Mixing bowl
- Zip-lock bags or small containers
Instructions
- Break the granola bars into bite-sized chunks in a bowl.
- Add the cereal. Toss to combine.
- If using peanut butter, melt it for 15 seconds in the microwave until runny, then drizzle over the mix and toss to coat lightly.
- Add any extras — raisins, nuts, chocolate chips, pretzels.
- Portion into small bags or containers. Store at room temperature for up to a week.
Notes
- Nut-free version: Skip the peanut butter. The granola bars and cereal are the base — the peanut butter is just a bonus.
- Customize freely. This is a formula, not a strict recipe. Use whatever combination of crunchy and chewy things you have.
- For kids: Let them pick their own mix-ins and portion their own bags.
- No granola bars? Use extra cereal and add honey or sugar for sweetness.
- Keeps well. Portion on Sunday and grab bags all week.
