notes & tips
- Canned potatoes shortcut: Use a drained can of potatoes instead of fresh. Cut the cook time down to 8 minutes since they're already cooked — you just need to heat everything through.
- Over biscuits or bread: Ladle the stew over toast or biscuits for an open-faced meal.
- Stretch it: Serve over rice or add an extra can of mixed vegetables.
- Mix brands: Different brands of beef stew taste different. Mixing two brands can actually improve the flavor.
