Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) canned peaches or pears, drained
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Optional Extras

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Drizzle of honey
  • Crushed cereal or oatmeal on top
  • A spoonful of peanut butter

Equipment

  • Small skillet or saucepan

Instructions

  1. Drain the canned peaches.
  2. Melt butter in a small skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add peach slices and sugar. Sprinkle with cinnamon if you have it.
  4. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring gently, until the peaches are warm and the sugar makes a light syrup.
  5. Serve warm. Top with crushed cereal, oatmeal, or a spoonful of peanut butter if you want.

Notes

  • Microwave version. Put drained peaches in a bowl, add butter and sugar, microwave for 90 seconds. Stir and serve.
  • Works with any canned fruit. Pears, mixed fruit, and even applesauce all work the same way.
  • Top with cereal crumble. Crush some Chex or granola on top for crunch. It's like a quick cobbler.
  • Serve over oatmeal. This turns plain morning oatmeal into something special.
