Allergens: Contains wheat (pasta) and dairy (cheese sauce). Check SPAM label for additional allergens.

Ingredients

  • 1 box macaroni and cheese
  • 1/2 can SPAM, diced into small cubes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Milk and butter per box directions

Optional Extras

  • Frozen peas
  • Hot sauce
  • Black pepper

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Small skillet
  • Colander
  • Stirring spoon

Instructions

  1. Cook mac and cheese according to box directions. Drain pasta, add milk, butter, and cheese packet.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat oil in a small skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add diced SPAM cubes. Cook without stirring for 2-3 minutes to get the bottoms crispy, then stir and cook another 2-3 minutes until golden on multiple sides.
  4. Stir crispy SPAM into the finished mac and cheese.
  5. Add frozen peas if you have them. The heat from the pasta will warm them through.

Notes

  • Cut SPAM small. Smaller cubes mean more crispy edges and better distribution throughout the mac and cheese.
  • Works with hot dogs too. Slice them into rounds and fry the same way.
  • Kids love this. It's mac and cheese with meat in it. That's usually an easy sell.
